Troop 449 Marches in 2008 Chapel Hill Christmas Parade

As is its tradition, Troop 449 marched in the 2008 Chapel Hill Christmas Parade.  This year, it was on Dec. 13th.  The “Blue Jeep” and red trailer are a familiar sight to parade-goers.  Here’s a short video of this year’s parade.  Thanks to Rogerio Prata for the clip!

Crossovers

So far this spring we’ve had recruits join from Packs 438 and 845.  Tom and I made it out to the P438 Crossover a few weeks ago and Oliver and I went to P845 just last week…p845.jpg p438.jpg

Recruiting, service, and cold weather…

Last weekend we had a nice “Weblos2/Bring a friend Camping” overnighter at Camp New Hope. During the day we helped Jerold (the property manager at the camp) clear out a rather overgrown section of a culvert near the main office. After we finished our service work, we set up camp and walked the property for the rest of the afternoon. We had a great time with five Weblos visitors and one friend. After supper the Scouts played a hard game of ‘keep-away’ while the adults chatted.Unfortunately, my CF card is misbehaving so no pics…

Big Sweep!

On Saturday, October 6th, 8 scouts from the troop participated in the “Big Sweep” at Eno River State Park.  We picked up 1000 pounds of trash!  After that, the troop camped Saturday night and had an excellent time.
